Outdoor Neon
Outdoor Neon is typically mounted to a custom-made cabinet or enclosure – also called the “sign can”. In certain cases, the neon can be mounted bare to the wall – aka “skeleton” neon. Our outdoor projects range from historic theater restorations to custom signage for local Austin businesses. The outdoor sign types anyone works on is highly dependent on the type of company and equipment they have. We have chosen to specialize in smaller, one-of-a-kind types electric displays. Generally under 10ft from the ground (1st floor) and under 60lbs. This covers the vast majority of the small business needs we cater to. Austin has many capable contractors that handle large projects such as material lifting, crane work, etc. If you project falls out of the scope we provide, a referral can be made if desired.
Compared to other Texas cities, Austin’s sign permitting process is fairly complex when creating new signage for a business. Before a sign permit is issued, Austin typically wants to see a “change of use” somewhere in the permit history that corresponds to that type of business. There are also numerous “scenic corridors”, with their on special restrictions. On the other hand, Austin is quite liberal with the policy of re-facing existing signs. If this all sounds confusing, call us and talk about your proposed project. We are here to help you!
